Duck Lake Trail Head

Elevation:4,000'+/-

Location:

At top of French Creek Road, South of Etna.

Directions to TH from Etna: Go south on Hwy. 3 past Etna, for about a couple of miles. Turn Right onto French Creek Road. Follow French Creek road (3G)all the way to the top and turn Right at the T onto FS road 40N22. Go to the end and turn Right at the T onto FS road 41N14. The trailhead is on the Left about a mile down this road.

Road Conditions:

Paved for the first 4 miles on French Creek Rd. Gravel road after that, usually in good condition. Do not go far past Duck Lake TH with trailers, as the creek crossing is washed out before the Paynes Lake Trailhead.

Open by:

Duck Lake trailhead is usually open by early June.

Trail Head Ammenities:

Large enough parking area to usually turn around a stock trailer. It may take some jockeying to get it around. Or, can use entry way and road to turn around. Can also go up the road about a half mile or so, and turn around using the turn-out.
This is not a heavily used Trail Head.
There is no water.
There are no out-houses.
No fees.
There is one trail heading out of this trail-head.

Trails out of Duck Lake TH:

The trail is very steep near the start, for about a mile, then it levels out on an old logging road for a short ways, before splitting and going to Duck Lakes, HorseShoe Lake, Eaton Lakes, Lipstick Lake, and on up to the PCT.
